There is the old adage that every party ends up in the kitchen, well, if were honest, it probably started there too ! Kitchens need to be functional but also they need to be an enjoyable environment to be in, after all, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
Kitchens generally come in five styles/shapes, most of these styles utilise the work triangle which sees the stove, the sink and the fridge forming the triangle, one of these will just about suit every home in the land and of course you can modify any of these basic styles, our design team will be more than happy to help or even do all this for you.
The five basic Kitchen styles are :
- The Single Galley Kitchen :- this is ideal if you are restricted for space as all the units are placed along one wall, as in maybe a small flat or studio.
- The Double Galley Kitchen :- this arrangement sees the units placed along opposite walls with the sink at the end of the “tunnel” which forms the “work triangle” this is known traditionally as a “work” kitchen and is great for smaller spaces.
- The “L” shaped Kitchen :- here the units are on two adjacent walls this again keeps the trianlgular work area
- The “U” shape :- this sees units on three walls with the sink usually at the bottom of the “U” although this is not mandatory and there plenty of options if this is not what you require.
- The “island” Kitchen :- this is a more modern concept and is generally found in larger open kitchens. In this arrangement the range or stove is placed in the middle of the “room” usually where the kitchen table would be, on its own “island” .
Once you have decided on the overall style of your kitchen, you can turn your attention to the detail, ie, the colour, the type of Hob, the lighting in fact there are many details that can be adapted to suit any preferences you may have What kind of flooring do you require, 
what kind of ceiling, all of these choices are yours to make and of course, we have the solutions here at Kitchens UK.
